...david and I were enjoying a quiet pint the other night...
...when we decided to try Brackspear (sic?) Bitter.
We both agreed there was something more than a little familiar about the taste, but the identity of the flavour in question evaded us for quite some time. This led us into a conversation about how beer, like wine and virtually nothing else (except crisps, which don't really count) can taste of absolutely anything.
We then started talking about Gilly Goolden; that terrible woman from the old Food & Drink show on BBC2. We both agreed that by far the most annoying thing about her was that if she made some ridiculous claim about the flavours in a wine ("a rush of strawberry followed by dandelion notes and just the slightest hint of wallpaper paste") you could pretty much take it as read that she was right.
It was at this point that David finally nailed down the aftertaste of the bitter:- Cum. It even fucking smelled the same.
Ordinarily I'd suspect the bar staff of being responsible for this sort of thing, but since we were served by a woman it seemed unlikely on this occasion.
For what it's worth, we both swallowed.
