...i can't believe the government actually think it's a good idea to drug test school kids...

In large companies where random drug-testing is practised smack and coke abuse rates are sky high relative to the general population. This is for the simple reason that opiates are cleared from the bloodstream (and from piss) in a matter of hours whereas THC from hash dissolves in body-fat and persists for weeks. Hair tests provide a long-term record of abuse but are fuck-all good in today's world of crew-cuts and Bic-razor home hairdressing. If ever there was an incentive to move on to harder drugs this is it.
