...i am watching george bush's "state of the union address"....

... and am strongly reminded of the first Labour Party conference after Tony Blair's election win in 1996. A disgustingly stage-managed affair with deliberate pauses built into the script to allow for organized 8-second snatches of standing ovation to occur. Even the leader's bitterest enemies celebrate his elevation to power in the name of the greater good.

This revolting disply takes place in front of, and with the aquiescence of, both houses of representatives - including the opposition. The friends and supporters of the election winner Al Gore (admittedly also a cunt) actually fucking join in. Proof, should any be needed, that the whole world has turned to shit.
